The Personal Data Protection Authority, or KVKK, complies with the Council of Europe's Convention 108 and EU Directive 95/46/EC. The Authority can carry out its duties, responsibilities, and powers independently. The KVKK consists of a total of 9 members. 2 of these members are elected by the President, and the other 2 by the Council of Ministers. The remaining 5 members are elected by the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The conditions for being elected as a KVKK member are as follows:

- To possess the general conditions required to be a civil servant
- To not have any political party membership by any means
- To be a graduate of at least a 4-year undergraduate program from faculties

Duties of the KVKK

The main important duties of the Personal Data Protection Board, abbreviated as KVKK, can be listed as follows;
- To take the necessary and sufficient measures for the processing of personal data belonging to individuals, i.e., private personal data
- To rectify any unlawfulness identified upon complaints or by acting independently and on its own initiative
- To ensure that personal data is processed in accordance with the fundamental rights and freedoms of the Turkish Constitution
Fundamental Principles and Values of the KVKK

The most important principle of the KVKK is to protect the privacy of private life. In this regard, they ensure mutual respect for people's fundamental rights and freedoms. They do this within the framework of three basic principles: impartiality, independence, and trustworthiness. Both the sanctions of the KVKK and the individual's data must comply with law and ethical principles. In carrying out these practices, the KVKK must be accountable by managing a transparent process. The KVKK should make fast, accurate, and objective decisions, taking care not to cause harm to the individual. You have the opportunity to obtain the necessary information from online law addresses.
