Why Do Brain Metastases Occur in Lung Cancer?
One of the most common conditions in lung cancer is brain metastasis. The most important reason for this is the very frequent connection between the blood vessels of the lungs and the brain, and the cancerous cells being transported to the brain through the bloodstream. For this reason, radiotherapy may be given to the brain as a protective measure to individuals diagnosed with lung cancer. The key points here are the spread of lung cancer, the proliferation rate of cancerous cells, and the patient's age and health status.
What is Brain Metastasis?
When cancerous cells located elsewhere in the body reach the brain, meaning the cancer spreads to the brain, it is called brain metastasis. While lung cancer is the most common type of cancer leading to brain metastasis, it is also frequently observed in breast cancer and kidney cancer types.
